I can remeber the shop to the right being called Stevens. It got burnt down a good few years ago. It is Argos now.

Where the 2 men are standing near the railings, I think there used to be public toilets there. Not 100% though.

yes those are public toilets, they are now sealed off and I'm told by an old council worker that they are now prob. submerged under water.

That is a shame. The toilets near the old Flour Mill are now up for sale, I think Ystrad Mynach is the nearest place where there is a public toilet, but it costd 30p for the privilage.

The Building at the top of the road is the "little theatre" its still in its origional form and is still putting on shows.

Actually, I don't think the building you can see is the Little Theatre; that's on Woodbine Road. I think the building in this photo is the Methodist Church on Cefn Road.

The Shop that is called The Bargoed Emporium I remember when I first moved to Blackwood it is now Argus but my goodness how much Blackwood has changed. Thank heavens for the good old days

Does anyone remember the railway station in blackwood? and if so is there a photo.

I am trying to find information as to the existance of the star inn I was told it is in blackwood but cannot find any record, oakdale was also mentioned app grandmothers family run it and gran was born there would love a picture or more info

Blackwood station- just up past the miners institute. Remember it well. As a young lad in the 1940s used to climb up the bank to put stone on the track and await the first train !!!

On a Sunday morning at exactly 10-00 the train would take the day trippers to Barry Island- often watched it go from Bridge St. with all the kids waiving from the train.

Sadly there is not, it seems that thousands of ponds would rather be spent on idiotic looking town art with very little meaning instead. Then thats the council for you...

I was told by my late father that Blackwood Wetherspoons, formally Baber of Blackwood used to be a cinema. I have recollections of this but not sure

I remember the old stevens shop, we used to pop in on a saturday to look at the clothes with my mam. The shop was huge and had stairs..i dont think i ever went up though. the 1 memory i have is riding on a small sit on elephant? or other animal ride in the middle of the shop while my mum looked around!! good times!!

the shop on the corner looks very much where the argos shop now stands and i agree with last comment that it is not woodbine road
